Painting has always been present in the life of Ana Valdés, but it was after completing her degree in Textile Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana that she decided to fully dedicate herself to art. Her academic background gave her the tools to understand color, composition, and aesthetics from a material and sensitive perspective—but it was in the freedom of the canvas that she found her true voice.
Ana began experimenting with relaxed, spontaneous lines that quickly caught the public’s attention for their originality, imperfection, and powerful presence. Without prior sketches, she gives total freedom to her arm, allowing the line to flow with intuition and precision. Through this uninterrupted stroke, she constructs a caricatured version of reality—playful, energetic, lighthearted, and infused with humor. In a fast-paced and anxious world, her work invites us to let go of control, embrace the unexpected, and find beauty in the imperfect.
For her, art is a form of dialogue with herself. Each piece serves as a visual journal, a tool for self-exploration that accompanies her in both difficult and joyful moments. Her creative process is deeply honest, cathartic, and free. This emotional authenticity has allowed her to connect with audiences who value the freshness and sincerity of her style, both in Mexico and abroad.
Ana’s unique style has led her to explore a wide range of media—from canvases and sculptures to rugs, large-scale pieces, and murals. In 2024, she was commissioned by Liverpool to design a summer clothing collection, which sold out quickly. Her work has been featured in galleries, television programs, and public spaces. She is currently represented by MAD Art Gallery and Estudio Actual in Mexico City, as well as Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery in Los Cabos.
Her work has traveled across various Mexican states and reached international audiences through exhibitions in Berlin and sales in cities such as New York, Washington, Montreal, Vancouver, and Madrid.
Today, after eight years of uninterrupted dedication to her art, Ana Valdés continues to build a vibrant universe that celebrates Mexico and the magic of everyday life. Each intervention, illustration, sculpture, and drawing is part of this vision—meant to share hope, lightness, and joy with those who experience it..
